1982, the Special Service for Municipalities and Communities was established and had just six responsibilities.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"254\" data-end=\"374\">In 1991, the Special Service for Municipalities and Communities was established in Glyfada and staffed with 5 employees.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"376\" data-end=\"461\">In 2002, it was renamed the Municipal Police and its responsibilities were increased.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"463\" data-end=\"522\">In 2004, the uniform and badge of the Service were changed.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"524\" data-end=\"652\">In 2008, the Municipal Police was restructured and its responsibilities, mode of operation, action, and staffing were redefined.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"654\" data-end=\"724\">In 2013, the Service was abolished, only to be re-established in 2015.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"726\" data-end=\"962\">Despite the size of the municipality, its needs, and the responsibilities of the Service, after its re-establishment in 2015, it is staffed by only 16 Municipal Police Officers, whereas the Service was staffed by 27 until its abolition.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"964\" data-end=\"1014\">Its fleet of vehicles consists of two patrol cars.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1016\" data-end=\"1078\">The Service is structured into two departments and one office:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1080\" data-end=\"1214\">\n<li data-start=\"1080\" data-end=\"1128\">\n<p data-start=\"1082\" data-end=\"1128\">the Shops and Businesses Control Department,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1129\" data-end=\"1180\">\n<p data-start=\"1131\" data-end=\"1180\">the Traffic and Parking Control Department, and<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1181\" data-end=\"1214\">\n<p data-start=\"1183\" data-end=\"1214\">the Secretarial Support Office.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1216\" data-end=\"1311\">The most important responsibilities exercised by the Agency are the control of compliance with:<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1313\" data-end=\"1498\">a) the legislation and local regulations issued by the municipal authorities for the use of alleys, gardens, squares, playgrounds, and other public spaces (Law 3731\/2008, Article 1(2)),<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1500\" data-end=\"1679\">b) the legislation and local regulations issued by the municipal authorities for the use and operation of fairs, Christmas markets, and open-air markets in general (Article 1(3)),<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1681\" data-end=\"1753\">c) the provisions relating to open-air trade and markets (Article 1(4)),<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1755\" data-end=\"1824\">d) the provisions concerning outdoor advertising etc. (Article 1(5)),<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1826\" data-end=\"1869\">e) cleaning in public areas (Article 1(6)),<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1871\" data-end=\"1956\">f) measures imposed for the prevention of fires in public open spaces (Article 1(7)),<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1958\" data-end=\"2144\">g) the provisions concerning pedestrian traffic, the stopping and parking of vehicles, the circulation of wheeled vehicles in pedestrian streets, squares, pavements, etc. (Article 1(8)),<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2146\" data-end=\"2202\">h) the provisions on abandoned vehicles (Article 1(10)),<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2204\" data-end=\"2288\">i) the provisions on the marking of works carried out on roads etc. (Article 1(11)),<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2290\" data-end=\"2348\">j) the provisions relating to pet animals (Article 1(24)),<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2350\" data-end=\"2504\">k) the provisions concerning the regulatory decisions issued by the Municipality and the enforcement of the measures provided for by them (Article 1(25)),<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2506\" data-end=\"2551\">l) the provisions on smoking (Law 3730\/2008).<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2553\" data-end=\"2566\">Additionally:<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2568\" data-end=\"2670\">a) It participates in the implementation of the Civil Protection Plans (Law 3731\/2008, Article 1(12)),<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2672\" data-end=\"2818\">b) It executes administrative sanctions relating to the operation of shops whose operating licence is granted by the
