This sculpted theatre is located on a magnificent slope of Mount Hymettus, in the area known as “Aixoni,” which was part of the ancient municipality of Aixoni. Essentially, it is a damari (an old quarry) that has been artistically transformed into a work of art.

In 1984, the theatre was included in a restoration and regeneration program for former quarries in Attica. This initiative had begun in 1983 under the Directorate of Construction Projects of the then Ministry of Planning, Housing, and Environment. The same year, it was also adopted as a project by the Municipality of Glyfada. The project was overseen by Nella Golanda, who was responsible for its construction.

The Sculpture Theatre of Aixoni has received high praise from many notable figures, including:

Dim.
