The stage adaptation of Sophocles’ tragedy “Oedipus Tyrannus”, which Aristotle described as the “highest tragedy” (and the tragedies he knew were far more than those we know today), directed by Thanasis Sarantos, was a pivotal theatrical moment. The performance of Creon by Konstantinos Lagos is astonishing, and Angeliki Lemonis is unique in two roles, Jocasta and Tiresias. Throughout the almost two-hour performance, there was not a whisper from the stands. And at the end of the performance, everyone stood up with applause and cheers.
“Thank you for the wonderful work that you are presenting today on the stage of our Festival”, said the Mayor of Glyfada George Papanikolaou and mentioned by name all the contributors of the great theatrical performance, which won the “Karolos Kun” award and was presented for the first time in Mongolia in the Greek language, winning an honorary distinction. And this excellent theatrical performance was offered by the Municipality of Glyfada free of charge for all, residents and visitors of our city. The Mayor thanked the people for the voluntary donation of food and medicines for the municipal social structures, an offer he described as “valuable”. Together with him, on stage, the President of the Glyfada Municipal Council, Dafnoula Harisi-Bilia, and, of course, the Municipal Councillor for Culture, Georgia Vamvakerou, who is responsible for the events of the Festival.

— Weekend with excellent films at the C’ Marina
The Glyfada Festival’s programme of events continues this weekend with cinema on the big screen of the C’ Marina 8:30 p.m.
— Today, Saturday 19 July: Exotic Marigold Hotel
— Tomorrow, Sunday, July 20: Spy
— The Three Little Pigs today 8:00 pm, MINIONS tomorrow 8:30 p.m. at the Children’s Festival
With children’s theatre in the playground of Xenophontos Square and with MINIONS tomorrow on the big screen in the Circulation Park, the Glyfada Children’s Festival, which has delighted young and old, continues this weekend.

You can see the full programme of the events of the first part of the Festival (children and adults) here: https://glyfada.gr/index.php/home/festivals2025

A thrilling theatrical experience was experienced yesterday by the large audience of the open-air theatre of G’Marina.
